Travel Highlights / The trip retraces the surprising Italian Pilgrimage that Joseph and Elizabeth Pennel made in 1884. From Florence to Rome they pedaled, pushing the tandem tricycle that they'd brought by train from England. They chose this route because they considered it a "sure guarantee of beauty". And that's still the case! Four days of travel by bike, from the Chianti Hills of Florence to Siena; from Chianti Classico in Pienza, and from Val d’Orcia to Umbria, stopping in Orvieto, the city standing on cliffs of tuff; moving on from Civita di Bagnoregio, and then to Alviano lake.
